4 THOUGHTS that IMMEDIATELY Relieve Stress
Here are a few thoughts that we can have that will help us navigate through our lives in a healthy way.
This one is my favorite go-to thoughts. Many times when something happens that I'm not prepared for, or someone I love is suffering, I think that something is terribly wrong.
When I think "nothing has gone wrong", it helps me to realize that this life is full of ups and downs for all of us, and that I can flow through those moments better when I give up wanting things to be different.
Dealing with difficulties are made easier by understanding that truly nothing has gone wrong.
2. Love feels best.
I also use this one a lot because I have a tendency to want to judge instead of love. And I just have to say that judging feels terrible! There are so many benefits to believing that everyone has some good to them, and most people are doing the best they know how.
When I love people, I'm the one that gets to feel the love. They don't feel the love, I get to feel the love. I am the one that benefits most from loving others.
Sometimes we have unmet expectations and we can get so hung up on them that we forget to just love. Other people don't usually care what expectations we have for them and if we say anything to them, it usually distances us from them even further. So to bridge the gap, choose to love and not judge others. Love feels best!
3. Emotions are supposed to be 50/50.
Okay, so this one is kinda big. Our world offers so many ways to buffer from negative feelings. We can dive into overeating, social media, Netflix, porn, alcohol, sugary foods, etc. We use these things so we don't have to FEEL something.
If we understand that this life is meant to have a balance of 50% positive 50% negative feelings, then when a feeling comes up that is negative, we don't have to buffer against it. Once we learn how to feel our feelings in a healthy way, other buffers are less appealing and we are in control.
4. Thoughts are all optional.
Every "pop-up" thought we have is from our primitive brain and our previous experiences. We don't have to believe them, especially when it doesn't do us any good to think that way. Understanding that there are hundreds of thoughts we can choose from gives us ultimate power. We can choose which thought to have in each situation that gives us the outcome we desire most.
