3 Steps to Lessen Your Anxiety Today

Anxiety has gotten a lot of attention lately! 

It seems to be everywhere and for so many people, it has become part of daily living.

I have coached clients that deal with so much anxiety that they feel numb to joy! 

They have a hard time feeling anything.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

Anxiety is the fear of feeling our negative emotions.

But we are meant to feel negative emotions 50% of the time.

That's the way it's supposed to be! That is the way life is designed for us. Everything is right on track when we are feeling negative emotions about half of the time! 

It is because we have negative emotions that we also are able to feel the positive emotions. But when we resist the negative emotions, we also have less ability to feel the positive ones as well!

So, what if we just allowed the negative emotions to come without resisting them? 

THIS IS A GAME CHANGER WHEN IT COMES TO ANXIETY!! 

Here's the three steps:

1. Name it! Name the underlying negative feeling you are trying to resist. Bring attention to it by acknowledging its existence.

2. Relax into it! Allow it to be there. Understand how having that feeling is part of the human experience. 

3. Feel it lessen within you! This sometimes takes a few minutes. But as you CONSCIENTIOUSLY allow the negative feeling to be there, it's effect will diminish and you will feel more in control. 

This takes conscious work and being present with your feelings, but it is SO WORTH IT to lessen your anxiety intake.
