A Place for Faith

I've recently changed my idea of perfection. I had it all backwards.
My previous picture of being perfect was someone who didn't make mistakes, someone who had it all put together...the perfect house, yard, kids, dog, job, husband, etc.
The truth is that when I was striving for this, I was constantly judging! Judging others, judging myself, comparing myself to others, feeling better than or not measuring up to based on my assessment from my limited view.
Judging became my method of measuring perfection.
And yet, Jesus Christ tells us, "Judge not that ye be not judged."
I also felt worn out carrying on the charade. I felt like I had to hide my flaws.
I judged myself because of my flaws.
Then I realized I had it backwards.
To be perfect was to be humble, not prideful. It was to accept others, not judge and compare.
What I saw as flaws, I learned were opportunities for me to grow. I didn't need to hide and pretend but I could study myself and work on humbly becoming a better version of myself.
To come unto Jesus is being humble enough to accept that we are not perfect and that's the way it is supposed to be! HE is the PERFECT one. We are the ones to accept His sacrifice and become changed through understanding his grace and mercy on our behalf.
Humility is the gateway to real change.
