How do I KNOW if I'm Ready To Serve?

Serving a mission has many unknowns. And just the thought of all the unknown can give our future missionaries anxiety and bring hesitation.

 One perspective I loved from Sister Eubank's talk in conference yesterday was:

 "this isn't the stage in our eternal development where we have all answers. But it is the stage where we develop our assurance (or sometimes hope) in the evidence of things not seen."

 Isn't that refreshing??? Knowing this about where we are on our eternal journey can give us this perspective.

 If we don't have all the answers about what a mission will bring, GREAT! We aren't supposed to have the answers. This is the time to have faith.

 So, then you may ask...

 "How can I bolster the faith I have and trust enough to step into the unknown of serving a mission?"

 This is a question for true reflection, so take a second and answer it for yourself. 

 The thoughts we decide to think about an upcoming mission are either bringing us closer to serving, or stopping us from working toward that goal.

The Tree of Life in Feelings

Every time I read the scriptures, I get something different from it because of where I am in my life. This happens a lot to us when we study the scriptures. I had an interesting study of Lehi's vision of the Tree of Life.  We all know the different elements of the dream but I looked at the dream in a unique way focusing on the feelings that come from being in each place, and it was fascinating, so I wanted to share. This is what I came up with:  Place = Feeling * In a dark and dreary waste = lost * Large and spacious field = small * Tree of life = exceeding great joy * Searching for family = yearning * Wanting them to partake = hopeful * River of filthy water = engulfed * Standing by and not moving = stagnant/unsure * Rod of iron & strait and narrow path = determined * Mist of darkness = confused * Casting eyes about after partaking of fruit = ashamed * Great & spacious building = prideful * Fell down and partook of the fruit = relieved This is interesting because we s...

FEAR NOT, I AM WITH THEE...(Click HERE) Never in the history of this world has God NOT been in control.  Nothing ever surprises Him. We can trust that He knows us and our needs. Nothing shocks Him. He teaches us every chance He gets. Maybe what we all need is a good dose of TRUST in Him. I love the hymn in the link above.  And this morning as I thought about what to share with you, this verse came into my mind.  Please take heart in this time of uncertainty, and REST IN HIM. What would it look like for you to live without fear today? Take precaution, but CREATE joy in your life today and trust IN GOD.
